Privacy

Typist is built to collect nothing. It has no backend, so there is nowhere for your data to go.

No data leaves your browser

Every feature runs locally on the page you are typing on. Typist makes no network requests. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no error reporting service.

What is stored, and where

Your settings — feature toggles, custom wrap pairs, typography rules, and disabled sites — are saved in your browser's extension storage on your own device. Nothing is synced to us. You can export or wipe them any time from the options page.

Permissions

Typist requests only storage (to keep your settings) and activeTab (to edit text in the tab you're using). It never reads other tabs, your history, or your credentials.

Open source

The full source is public. If a claim here doesn't match the code, the code wins — go read it on GitHub.
